Kayode Ojo
Am I Acoustic
Friday, September 27, 6 PM
Am I Acoustic, a new performance conceived by resident Kayode Ojo, will premiere at Callie’s on Friday, September 27 at 6pm. The site-specific performance draws inspiration from the architecture at Callie’s and investigates the tension between public versus private, foreign versus domestic, intention versus reality.

During his residency at Callie’s, Ojo has also been developing a series of sculptural assemblages that challenge ideas of value, representation, and how objects shape identity.

Kayode Ojo was born in Cookeville, Tennessee in 1990. Through a practice that spans photography, installation, and performance, Ojo explores the theatricality, artifice, and seduction. In 2012, Ojo graduated with a BFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York. In 2018, he was named as one of Forbes’ “30 Under 30 in Art and Style.” His work has been exhibited at MoMA PS1, the Swiss Institute and the Goethe-Institut Curatorial Residencies in New York, as well as the Università Iuav di Venezia and the Athens Biennale, among many others. His works are included in the public collections of the CCS Hessel Museum of Art in New York, MOCA in Los Angeles, Museum Brandhorst in Munich, and the Studio Museum in Harlem, New York. Ojo lives and works in New York.
