On Wednesday, April 24th, and Thursday, April 25th from 4 to 7pm, Callie’s invites you to experience the synergies of Isabel Lewis and Dirk Bell’s reading room, nestled within one of our ground floor studios.

In resonance with Isabel Lewis and Callie’s first publication, An occasion to consider a book, the reading room unfolds as a sanctuary of concrete poetry, framing the volumes on display for visitors. Entering this room within a room, an intimate space emerges for you to immerse yourself in multi-layered understandings of Lewis’s celebrated occasions. In this space, Isabel Lewis encapsulates a decade of her practice in a smaller-scale and humble form—the book—a testament to her artistic journey.

The reading room pulsates with gestures—each book and object embodying a narrative waiting to be explored. At the same time, it is an invitation to engage with the interplay of words, shapes and artworks created by longtime collaborators Lewis and Bell.
