Stories within Stories is a new monograph on the work of Bouchra Khalili. The artist’s filmic explorations of citizenship, resistance, and collective emancipation are examined in contributions by Sofia Johansson, Bouchra Khalili, Katarina Pierre, Abdellah Taïa, Joachim Ben Yacoub, and Arnisa Zeqo.

Callie’s and a.p. present the Berlin launch of Stories within Stories on Saturday November 12th, from 4-6pm. Khalili will speak about her artistic methodologies and research into the civic imagination. She will also discuss
The Magic Lantern, a new moving image installation created by Khalili while in residence and currently on display in her former studio at Callie’s, until December 3rd.

Stories within Stories is edited by Sofia Johansson and published by Hatje Cantz and Bildmuseet Sweden as a companion to Khalili’s recent exhibition of the same name at the Bildmuseet.
