Callie’s is excited to once again collaborate with Isusu Ffena to host their third annual festival, the theme of which is Community and Identity in our Cityscape. Isusu Ffena is a Pan-Afrikan collective whose name translates as “us together” in Shona and Lugada.

The festival will start on Friday, August 12th with a photography exhibition and Kusina Mai listening session, followed by poetry readings and a conversation with Tanaka Chidora and Tanatsei Gambura. The evening will feature a musical performance by AKA KELZZ and a DJ set by Zen.

Saturday, August 13th will include a market in the Callie’s courtyard that features black-owned businesses. The day will also include an Mbira instrumental workshop, readings by the poet Trovania, a musical performance by Simba CI, and a painting session guided by Tiara Matonda and Taona Nyandoro. The evening will conclude with DJ sets by Vanta Lynx and Femdelafem the Gardener from FTL collective.
