Book Launch and Signing
Camille Henrot
Friday, April 29, 2022 7 PM

Callie’s, a.p., and Hatje Cantz will host the launch of Camille Henrot, the artist’s definitive new monograph. On this occasion, Henrot will be in conversation with curator Pip Wallis, and then available to sign copies of the publication.

Camille Henrot’s diverse practice encompasses video, sculpture, installation, painting, and works on paper. A sprawling curiosity guides her interrogation of what it means to be both a private individual and a global citizen. Henrot draws inspiration from subjects as vast and varied literature, psychoanalysis, social media, cultural anthropology, self-help, and the banality of everyday life.

As the first major monograph spanning the artist’s striking career, Camille Henrot begins with the artist’s early films and concludes with her most recent paintings. Throughout the publication, a complex portrait of Henrot’s constantly evolving practice emerges. Texts by Dan Fox, Shanay Jhaveri, Clara Meister, Jane Devery, and Pip Wallis contextualize Henrot’s methodology and concretize the themes that have come to define her work. This monograph is published by Berlin-based press Hatje Cantz in collaboration with the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne.

In celebration of the publication’s release, Camille Henrot will be joined by curator Pip Wallis. Henrot and Wallis will discuss the monograph and its development, as well as how it illuminates new perspectives on the artist’s practice. After the conversation, Henrot will be available to sign copies of the publication. Throughout the evening, our sister bookstore a.p. will be open next door.
